We Love Pets (and Clean Air!)

If you're a pet owner, you know they can be a big part of the family. And just like any other family member, they need to be taken care of - especially when it comes to HVAC maintenance. Here are some HVAC tips that would benefit those with pets:

1. Use Better Filters

You know that your furry friend is tracking in dirt and pollen from outside. But did you know that your HVAC system can also play a role in circulating pet dander throughout your home?

There are different Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) ratings for air filters, which range from MERV-1 (the lowest efficiency) to MERV-16 (the highest efficiency). While a higher MERV rating means that your air filter will be more effective at removing contaminants from the air, it also means that it will need to be replaced more often.

We recommend using an air filter with a MERV rating of 11 or higher for homes with pets. This will help remove pet dander from the air and make your home more comfortable for everyone.

2. Install an Air Purifier

In addition to an air filter, you may also want to consider installing an air purifier in your home. Air purifiers work by circulating the air in your home and removing contaminants from the air.

We recommend using an air purifier with a High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA)filter. These filters are designed to remove 99.97% of particles from the air at 0.3 microns, making them an effective way to remove pet dander from your home.

3. Don't Skip on Maintenance

It's important to have your HVAC system regularly serviced to ensure that it is running efficiently. A well-maintained HVAC system will be more efficient and last longer.

Be sure to have your HVAC system serviced at least once a year and change your air filter regularly. By following these simple tips, you can help to improve the air quality in your home.
